Georgetown College men's basketball team got back to its winning ways as it returned to Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. The No. 2 Tigers (10-2) beat Miami University Hamilton, 113-85, Sunday afternoon.
Three Tigers tallied double-doubles, led by Monty Wilson's 35 points and 14 rebounds.
Georgetown was short-handed without the services of several Tigers with injuries and illness. However, GC did add Branden Burdette. The senior standout from Lexington joined the team at the Christmas break with his college football career done. He finished with seven points on 3-of-4 shooting in three minutes of action.
Deondre McWhorter had 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Trenity Burdine had 17 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Russ Middleton and Bopper Stenzel also reached double-figures with 10 points.
Five Harriers scored 10-plus points led by Jamil Huffman's 18. Curtis Johnson had 14, Dorrell Flowers 13 and Quez Evans and Cameron Cochrum finished with 12 each.
Georgetown returns to action and restarts Mid-South Conference action 8 pm Thursday against Shawnee State University. The women begin the doubleheader, tipping off a 6 pm against the Bears in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
