Georgetown College baseball team is set to open the 2014 season, but the Tigers will do so on the road instead of the schedule home series. Snow and ice forced GC to travel to Williamsburg, Ky. home field for University of the Cumberlands to play University of Saint Francis out of Illinois.
UC has been kind enough to allow the two teams to play a doubleheader starting noon Friday, while the Patriots will play USF over the weekend.
"We really appreciate this opportunity and the ability to not lose four games this opening weekend," said GC coach Micah Baumfeld. "Cumberlands and St. Francis have been great to help us all work this out. We are looking to getting on the field and getting this season going."
Georgetown will try to open at home again Feb. 15-16 hosting Davenport University at Robert N. Wilson Field for a slate of doubleheaders.
