Women's Basketball - Mon, Feb. 17, 2014

Andrea Howard started to break out of her shooting funk Saturday in a comeback attempt against University of Pikeville. The senior completely shrugged off her woos Monday in a make-up game at Bluefield College in the Mid-South Conference showdown.

The guard hit four threes and finished with a game-high 28 points as Georgetown (17-6, 11-4) snapped a two-game losing streak with an 86-74 win. GC has not dropped three straight under Coach Andrea McCloskey since December 2012.

Kourtney Tyra also shot the ball well, scoring 22 points. She went 5-of-9 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 from deep. Howard was a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc as GC went 7-of-10 as a team.

Devanny King finished with 18 points and she tied Howard with a team-high seven rebounds. Tyra dished out a game-high eight assists.

This is probably one of the last regular season games these two teams play as Bluefield (12-11, 6-8) is moving back into the Appalachian Athletic Conference and back to NAIA Division II for basketball.

The two could face off in the MSC tournament in a few weeks as Georgetown sits second and the Rams are seventh. Only the top eight make it to postseason. Each team has at least three more games.

The Tigers host Lindsey Wilson College 6 pm Thursday on Orange Crush and Parents' Night. Come out dressed in Orange as GC looks to sweep the Blue Raiders (18-8, 8-6).
