Georgetown College women's and men's basketball teams learn their national tournament fates Wednesday night.
The women, which currently is No. 9 but will learn the final ranking in a few hours, has its selection show at 8 pm. The NAIA will release seedings, pairings and full tournament brackets through its broadcast here.
The Tigers (21-8) have been in the Top 10 all season and as high as No. 3 at one point. They have played numerous ranked or receiving votes teams this season and have a winning record against those teams.
This will be the third straight trip and 14th overall. Georgetown has reached the semifinals once, quarterfinals three times and second round three times.
"This is always an exciting day," said GC coach Andrea McCloskey. "We try to make it special for our players and do a little viewing party of our own to celebrate the accomplishment. It is really fun."
This is the third and final year for the tournament to be hosted in Frankfort, Ky. The Civic Center has been a great place, and the women have excelled there. In 2012, GC advanced to its first-ever Fab Four. A season ago they won in the opening round before playing Lubbock Christian in the second round. GC is 4-2 since the tournament moved to Frankfort. They are 11-13 all-time.
The men's bracket release will start at 9 pm here.
The Tigers (22-10) are currently No. 16, but will also find out the final ranking of the season this afternoon. After the Top 25 teams are announced, the NAIA will work on setting the tournament bracket for release.
This is the 23rd straight season for the Tigers to play in the national tournament, longest consecutive streak. It will be the team's 33rd all-time appearance, also an NAIA record.
They are 54-30 with two national titles.
The tournament will be in Kansas City, Mo.
Both tournaments start Wednesday, March 19. Thursday, March 20 with also be an opening round day. Second round action begins Friday, March 21. Quarterfinals are set for Saturday, March 22. Semifinals are set for Monday, March 24 with the finals on Tuesday, March 25.
