Georgetown College baseball jumped out early in game one of its Mid-South Conference series with University of Rio Grande. The No. 23 Tigers (18-4, 7-3 MSC) scored three in the top of the first in cruising to an 11-2 win over the RedStorm (10-15, 3-7).
It was a 4-0 game heading into the top of the fifth when six hits and an error allowed GC to bring in six and put the game out of reach.
Tyler Arthur went the distance for his fourth win, dominating the Rio hitters with six strikeouts. The junior scattered eight hits and walked two. Two runs scored, both unearned.
Georgetown knocked Ryan Christophel out after four innings.
Eleven of the 13 GC hitters reached safely with Martin Lemus, Steven Mancilla and David Higuera all had two or more. Lemus and Tyler Coker each had four RBIs and each had a homerun in the game. Coker's was a grand slam, while Lemus had a three-run shot.
