Georgetown College softball faced No. 9 Lindsey Wilson College in a doubleheader Saturday, finishing up a weekend swing of Mid-South Conference action during spring break. The Blue Raiders took game one, 11-2.

The Tigers (14-7, 9-4) pitched freshman Sydney Goyette, who navigated out of a tough first inning. However, things got even rougher when the Blue Raiders began to come to life in the bottom of the third. Georgetown trailed 2-0 when a seven-run third all but ended the game.

LWC almost when through the lineup without an out, bringing six to the plate before a fielder's choice. Andrea Whelan started it two batters later Kristina Krupinski hit her second homerun of the game. The three-run bomb made it 5-0. The next batter singled, knocking Goyette from the game. Shelby Engle moved from first to the circle and Marissa Massie came in at first.

The Blue Raiders scored seven runs on five hits and no errors that inning to put the game away.

Georgetown managed two late runs with solo shots by Massie and Ashley Coppage.
