Georgetown College Athletic Hall of Fame committee is pleased to announce that alum Paul Archey, '85, is being inducted as the 2014 Distinguished Alumni on May 17 at 6 pm for dinner with the ceremony to start around 7 pm.
Archey – Senior Vice President, International Business Operations Major League Baseball – played second and shortstop for the Tigers during his undergraduate work in Georgetown.
He now oversees the World Baseball Classic, which expanded from 16 countries to 28 in 2013.
Archey joins the class of Neeley Thomas, Richard Fuller, Van Phillips, Susan Clements, Shane Pearson and the 1986-87 men's basketball teams as honorees of the 2014 Class.
He becomes only the eighth distinguished alum in the Hall of Fame at Georgetown, an honor that was first given out in 2006.
Ben Oldham, Leonard Conant Mather Bloss, Jr., Michael Linn Calhoun, Charles "Hoot" Gibson, Bill Wilson, Roy Bowling and Bob Tripure are the other members of this high honor.
