Georgetown College athletics is excited to announce a new partnership with Glicod Communications out of Louisville, Ky. The marketing-based company will be helping the Tigers broaden its horizons as well as putting athletics back on radio. Moving forward all of football will be heard on WCGW 770 AM in central and northern Kentucky and WFIA 94.7 FM in Louisville and most of southern Indiana as radio-only broadcasts. Some of men's and women's basketball games will also be part of this new radio deal, but exact games have not been determined yet and thus which stations will carry it is also up in the air.
"We are really excited about this deal with Glicod," said GC director of athletics Brian Evans. "It is an opportunity to put us back on radio, which we've been away from for the past five years, and still stream an internet audio broadcast to our larger fan base."
Taking over as play-by-play lead will be Glicod's Chris Labar for all the radio games with Jason Grefer serving as the color commentator.
"Glicod's mission is to extend media coverage for small colleges as well as high schools in Indiana and Kentucky," Labar said. "We are really excited to have Georgetown on board and seeing this partnership flourish for both of us."
The deal with Glicod is for 30 games total this season, covering all of football and dates for basketball to be decided later. This partnership also brings the GC Coaches' Shows back to radio with a live broadcast 8 pm every Monday night at Buffalo Wild Wings in Georgetown. The 30-minute show can be heard only on WJMM 99.1, a sister station to WCGW.
Georgetown athletics is also working to establish a web site link on the home athletic page that will direct listeners to the internet broadcast for all games and coaches' show.
