Acrobatics & Tumbling - Tue, Apr. 28, 2015

Georgetown College Acrobatics & Tumbling team is starting to take form with the exciting announcement of the first signee in program history.

"It is a great day for the program," said Tiger coach Alicia Castagneto. "We know exactly what Kaya Kelly brings to the table as she moves from the cheerleading squad to our team. She is extremely competitive and well recognized for her skills as the 2014 Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year and the 2015 Mid-South Conference Cheerleader of the Year."

Castagneto says the junior-to-be will starting in six of the eight events this coming season.

Kelly is majoring in child development in psychology with a double minor in biology and chemistry.

"This was the right opportunity at the right time for me," Kelly said. "I've always been driven by competing and while I love cheering this offers me more of an outlet for my passion. I have been a competition cheerleader as well as a sideline cheerleader since I was seven-years-old.

"When Georgetown announced the addition of this team and coach Castagneto talked to me about being on the team, I couldn't have been more excited. It is really an honor to be the first official signee."

Castagneto is still fast on the recruiting trail as the Tigers plan to compete full varsity status in 2015-16. If you are interested in the team and what this new expanded form of gymnastics and tumbling has to offer, please contact coach at [email protected]
