Georgetown College women's track and field's Tayler Godar finished her fourth straight national tournament this past Friday in the 35th NAIA Women's Track and Field Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The junior ran in the fourth and final heat of the 800-meter run.

"It's a pretty good place to draw to run, knowing what you need to accomplish in order to advance to the championship heat Saturday," said GC coach Todd McDaniel. "Tayler ran really well and pushed herself. She did not advance to the finals, but did accomplish another goal."

Godar broke her own 800-meter record by seven hundredths of a second. The Ohio native finished seventh in her heat in a blistering time of two minutes, 15 seconds two tenths.

Godar has not missed a national meet in cross country or track and field since qualifying for cross country in 2013.

"Tayler ran a great race and to break a record at a national meet is exciting," McDaniel said. "It's always tough to keep qualifying for the biggest meets, so this shows her discipline and determination. She'll come back very hungry this next year for her senior campaign."
