Kaelin Roberts went 3-1 this past weekend in a pair of doubles wins and one singles victory to help Georgetown College women's tennis team to a very successful trip to Georgia. For her efforts, the Mid-South Conference announced the Louisville, Ky. native as Player of the Week Monday afternoon. This is her first honor this season and second overall in her career.
"Kaelin has been such a strong four-year player for us both on the singles and doubles courts," said GC coach Jessica Cunningham. "Whether its practice or matches, she comes with the same intensity."
The senior and her doubles partner Kelly Swanson gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead over No. 21 Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta with 9-7 victory over Sofia Guerra and Atonella Altamirano. The pair followed that with a dominant 8-2 win over Dalton State University's Gabbi Bordelon and Erin Shueman. Roberts finished the weekend with a 6-0, 7-5 win over the Roadrunners' Daniela Sanchez.
"Her play this past weekend was impressive," Cunningham said. "To close out her doubles court to put us up 2-1 against SCAD-Atlanta, and then to follow it up with a win in singles and doubles against Dalton State shows her being a strong senior leader for this team."
