Men's Golf - Tue, Apr. 5, 2016

Georgetown College men's golf team is currently sitting sixth after the first round of the Mid-South Conference spring regular season tournament in Campbellsville, Ky.

Sophomore Kaleb Lester had a banner day with seven birdies to be tied for 12th in the individual competition. He finished two strokes above par.

All four scoring golfers finished inside the top 40 of the 60 golfers competing Monday. Braxton Brophy shot an 80 and Connor Taylor an 81 to be 31st and 34th respectively. Matthew Feltner was 11 strokes above par to be sitting 40th after round one.

"We had a really good start, sitting second in the overall competition for a while," said GC coach Austin Sparks. "However, we hit some rough spots on a good course. Hopefully, we learn from those and improve our scores tomorrow. We are right in this thing."

The Tigers are just six strokes behind University of Pikeville in fifth and 27 behind top team University of the Cumberlands.

Round two begins Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 am.
