Women's Golf - Tue, Apr. 5, 2016
Georgetown College women's golf team had a rough round one in the Mid-South Conference spring regular season tournament in Campbellsville, Ky. After not playing in a match in more than a month, the Tigers are sitting eighth led behind freshman Kat Leighty.
She shot 15-over par to be tied for 28th. All scorers for the Tigers finished in the top 50 of 55 golfers. Sydney Swingos and Mary Catharine Borders both shot a 94 to be tied for 43rd. Haley Hart is currently 49th with a day-one 103.
"We all know we are better than what we shot today," said GC coach Taylor Elder. "It is a tough course. Lots of golfers struggled and it doesn't help that we've not been in competition with other teams for a while.
"I think we will bounce back tomorrow and see a lot of improvement."
The Tigers are 25-strokes back from Midway University in seventh. Day two begins 8:30 am Tuesday with a shotgun start.
