For the second time this season, Georgetown College softball sweeps the Mid-South Conference weekly awards. Jessica Claxton received Pitcher of the Week honors, while Sandy Young was named Player of the Week.

The Tigers (25-15) went 6-0 this week with Claxton pitching in five of those games. The junior had three wins and two saves with a 1.91 earn run average. For the season she is 12-9 with a 3.69 ERA. Two of her wins were complete game victories on the road against Cumberland University, where she also collected two saves. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native also got a win at University of the Cumberlands to start the week. This is the second time this season she's been named Pitcher of the Week and the second time in her three-year career.

Young did the damage from the plate, recording 13 hits in 22 plate appearances. She safely reached in all six games, belting 12 RBIs and scoring 11 runs. The senior had three home runs and a triple, while going a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts.

This is the first player of the week honor of the season for Young and second in her career.
