Georgetown College freshmen Britney Chesser and Lucas Garnett led their teams to first place finishes in the Asbury College Cross Country Meet on Thursday.

It is something the freshmen duo are making a tradition, after leading their teams in the previous two runs of the season at the Georgetown and Shawnee State Invitationals. Chesser finished the race in 20:19, while Garnett completed the course in 17:33. Both the men and women ran a 5K race.

Other notable finishes for the women were senior Brooke Copley with a second place time of 22:14 and freshman Amanda Bolton with 22:42, a fourth place finish. In the men's race, behind Garnett were sophomores Jordan Allen and Tyler Cardin in third and fourth places, with 18:43 and 18:57, respectively.

The Georgetown women won the meet with a total of 24 points with second place Asbury scoring 33, while the men won the meet with a team total of 19 points and Pikeville College followed them with 44.

Both teams will travel to Danville on Saturday to compete in the Centre College Invitational.
