Cheerleading - Tue, Sep. 20, 2016

Georgetown College cheerleaders have a new head coach. Joanie Alexander, a Rock County Middle School language arts teacher, joined the staff to replace Betsy Montgomery. Alexander is a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College and is currently working on her Master of Science in library media education at Western Kentucky University.

She was part of the Blue Raider cheer squad from 2010-14 after four years of cheering at Rockcastle County High School. While at RCHS, Alexander received two distinguished cheerleading honors – 12th Region Cheerleading Scholarship and Stella S. Gilb Cheerleading Scholarship. Then she was three-time Mid-South Conference All-Academic at LWC.

Alexander has coached in Adair County and is currently working with Rockcastle County as well as Georgetown College. Her teams have brought home honors from JamFest and KAPOS. She is a certified gymnastics instructor, has worked six years with Damon's Cheer and Tumbling Academy in Columbia, Ky. and taught gymnastic lessons while working with all-star cheerleading squads.

If interested in the team, please contact coach here.
