Men's Soccer - Thu, Nov. 3, 2016

Georgetown College men's soccer team celebrated a solid regular season with a banquet Thursday evening in Bowling Green, Ky. The Tigers had three players receive second-team all-conference honors – only a total of 31 players from eight teams made up both teams.

For the second straight season, JT Stephens was named to the second team. He finished tied for second with the most goals scored on the team.

Sophomore Nick Gregory had a banner year, scoring 10 of the team's 21 goals. He broke out with four goals in an early season win over Spaulding University. He added a hat trick against Mount Vernon Nazarene and had two game winners this season.

Senior Matthew Oster was the final Tiger recognized. The goalkeeper had two shutouts and 91 saves this season.

"I'm very excited that we got three on second-team all-conference," said GC coach Derek Willis. "JT, Nick and Oster all had really great seasons and are deserving."

This goes along with the eight men who were announced Wednesday afternoon as all-academic honorees.

"I'm extremely proud of our guys who made academic all-conference once again," Willis said. "Our players put a lot of emphasis on academics and it shows."

The men start postseason play 6 pm Friday against Cumberland University. The two squared off just shy of a week ago and the Phoenix swooped in with a 4-0 victory in the regular season conference finale for both teams.
