Georgetown College and Lindsey Wilson College have played in two NAIA Volleyball Match of the Week games this season. Both proved to be just that, each team winning on their respective home courts. Saturday, in the Mid-South Conference tournament finals, the nationally ranked powerhouses did not disappoint again.

"The championship match lived up to its billing and then some," said GC coach Nick Griffin. "This was the first time our starting line-up had been together in consecutive matches in over a month."

The No. 11 Tigers struck first and the teams continued to trade sets until it came down to the fifth set. The No. 4 Blue Raiders erased a couple of deficits to finally win 22-25, 25-19, 20-25, 25-11, 16-14.

Unfortunately, we were on the short end after a number of timely errors in the final set," Griffin said. "We could've folded after an awful fourth set but banded together and determination will be key for us heading into the national tournament in a few weeks."

Both LWC and GC have punched tickets to the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa. Play begins Nov. 29, but it will be after next weekend's opening round site matches before either team will know their seed and pool.

Jenny Howell led the way with 18 kills, tallying her 1,00th in her career at Georgetown. Caroline Ricks continued to be a force against Lindsey. The junior finished with 13 kills.

Sarah Bell dished out 51 of the team's 53 assists. Courtney Grafton had 21 digs and Howell had 19.
