Women's Basketball - Sat, Feb. 4, 2017

Georgetown College women's basketball senior came ready to play against Shawnee State University. Emilie Ziese tallied a career-high 31 points and added 11 rebounds to help the Tigers (6-17, 2-8 MSC) hang tough with No. 6 Bears (24-2, 9-1) in Portsmouth, Ohio Saturday. SSU opened a big lead in the first four minutes and then weathered a couple of runs for an 81-69 win.

It was 17-3 early on senior day for the Bears as Jen Arnzen, one of the two SSU senior post players, hit a couple of threes. GC called time to refocus and found its own offensive rhythm behind Ziese, but could never make up the difference.

Shelby Beam chipped in with 11 points, while Lydia Graves and Justus Martin had eight each.

Arnzen led the Bears with 17 points, 5-of-6 from three-point range, while Bailey Cummins added 11 and Brandie Snow 10.

Georgetown returns to action 6 pm Thursday at Life University.
