Women's Basketball - Fri, Mar. 3, 2017

Georgetown College women's basketball had everyone on upset alert as the team battled No. 22 University of Pikeville in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference tournament in Frankfort, Ky.

The Tigers (8-20) came out cold after holding a one-point edge after 20 minutes. The Bears (21-9) used five GC turnovers to go on a 19-7 run in the third quarter. It was the unraveling of the women's season as they fell 73-59.

Kennedy Flynn led with 16 points, while senior Emilie Ziese cashed in 15 points and eight rebounds. The Rensselaer, Ind. native finishes her career with 720 points and 647 rebounds. She is 14th on the all-time GC rebounding list. Her 169 defensive rebounds this season puts her ahead of Devon Golden at sixth in an individual season. Shelby Beam chipped in with 11.

The youthful bunch showed vast improvements coming into the postseason, winning three of their final six games.
