Men's Basketball - Fri, Mar. 24, 2017

Georgetown College men's basketball makes it six straight years with at least one player named to the final NAIA All-American list. The league office announced Thursday evening that Troy Steward and Quan Poindexter earned honorable mention for the 2016-17 season.

Steward led the team in scoring with 16.5 points per game. He has 867 points through two seasons and 68 games for a 12.8 average thus far. He finished the season ranked 24th nationally in total scoring (529), 36th in total three-point fields made (72), 38th in points per game (16.5) and 47th in three-point field goals made per game (2.3).

Poindexter, whose 15.0 ppg was second on the team this season, scored 435 points in his first season in the Orange & Black. He hit a team high 169 shots and his 54.5 percent from the field – 11th best in the nation – was second on the team behind Chris Coffey's 58.2 (among players taking at least 200 shots).

This gives GC 32 all-time All-American honorees, counting only the first time players were honored as multiple Tigers have been named to the list two or three times in their careers.
