Women's Tennis - Wed, Apr. 12, 2017

Natalie Fiepke held on for a huge 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Kyleigh Murray, while Lauren Fazenbaker, Madelyne Kauffman and Emily Novak were making solid cases for singles wins too. This made for an interesting finish in the Georgetown College – Campbellsville University women's match Wednesday afternoon at Lackey Tennis Center. The visitors held on for the wins in two of those other singles, taking a 6-3 win.

Abigail Kennedy and Kauffman kept the GC Tigers in the hunt with an 8-1 win in doubles over Murray and Sara Coffman. This avoided a sweep in the first part of the match. Fiepke added a singles point to that and the match was at 4-2.

Then Fazenbaker took set one in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5). However, Bolor Enkhabayar rallied for a 7-6 (8-6) second set and then put it away with a 6-1 win in set three. Novak was a break here or there from a momentum shifting match at the five-seed. Grace Rowe got the bounces her way, though, and won 6-4, 6-4. That all but finished the match, however, Kauffman kept pushing and handed Brookyn Harris a 6-4, 6-2 loss in the sixth spot.

Georgetown is back in action 2 pm Thursday hosting Shawnee State University.
