Georgetown College softball opened up a close game one Friday with University of Pikeville in the top of the fifth and won 6-2. Game two it was all GC, winning the mercy-rule game 11-1.

Cassidy Janes' highlighted a two run, three hit fifth inning to take a one-run lead to three. The sophomore RBI double drove in Alli Watson. Katie Young and Corrin Robinson also had hits in the inning. The Tigers were also aided by two UPike errors.

Audrey Dodd picked up the win, going five innings. She scattered six hits, allowed two runs and struck out four. Hannah Morton got the save, pitching the final two innings of hitless ball with three strikeouts and no walks.

Georgetown's biggest problem in game one was stranding runners – leaving 11 on the bases. However, stringing hits together at the right time cured that in game two.

The Tigers had 11 runs on 11 hits – only one of which was extra bases as Young hit a triple. The junior finished the day 7-for-7 with three runs scored and four RBI.

Morton went the full five innings in the win, scattering five hits with one earned run and seven strikeouts.
