Women's Lacrosse - Mon, Apr. 17, 2017

For the second time this season Georgetown College women's lacrosse sweeps the NAIA Independent Conference Player of the Week honors.

Senior Merrisa Heraldson scored 13 goals and had four assists in a pair of road wins for her second Offensive Player of the Week award. Her six goals against Missouri Baptist matched the hosts output in a 14-6 win to start the week. She followed that up with a seven goal, four assist performance against Lindenwood-Belleville. She was one assist shy in that game from tying her own in-game record.

"Merrisa is seeing her college career is coming to a close and she wants to make the most of every opportunity," said GC coach Brandon Davis. "She took eight shots and scored seven goals against Lindenwood. She's being efficient and helping us be successful at the right time."

Avery Blackmon earns her second Defensive Player of the Week honor as she showed balance in the wins. The sophomore had four goals, an assist, two ground balls and eight draw controls over MBU. She followed that up with two goals, four assists, two ground balls and 10 draw controls.

"Avery is seeing the game so well, anticipating the flow and how to control it," Davis said. "She does whatever we need her to do and showing a very unselfish approach to every game. She's a great team player and one of our field generals."
