Michaela Kennedy, a 5-foot-7 combo guard from Williamstown, Ky. has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Georgetown College starting with the 2017-18 season.
Coach James Jackson announced the signing on May 16.

Kennedy had a record-breaking season during her senior campaign surpassing the 1,000 point milestone and breaking her school's single game scoring record with 45 points. A lights out shooter, Kennedy also holds Williamstown's record for most three-pointers made in a game knocking down 9-of-12 against Model Laboratory High. Kennedy finished her historic season as Region 8's leading scorer averaging 20.6 points per game.

"We are excited that Michaela is joining our program," Jackson said. "She is a scorer with the ability to knock down shots anywhere on the floor. I expect that she will make a positive impact both on and off the court."

Kennedy also considered Ohio Dominican University, University of Pikeville and Thomas More College.

She wrote that she chose Georgetown College for its "excellence in academics and the basketball program's tradition."

Kennedy is the first commitment in Georgetown's 2017 recruiting class.
