Women's Soccer - Tue, Oct. 3, 2017

Georgetown College women's soccer did battle with No. 12 Lindsey Wilson College Tuesday evening as the second game of Mid-South Conference action. While the Tigers (5-4-2, 0-1-1) held strong, they could not hold off the Blue Raiders (4-3-3, 2-0). LWC scored 11 minutes into play as Veronica Kurtz netted a rebound shot into the far corner away from a diving Megan Martin.

The freshman GC keeper had a solid night, though, making many diving stops and finishing with eight saves in 90 minutes.

Despite trailing at the break, Georgetown was finding spurts of offense and were only being outshot 6-3. In the final 45, the home team pushed the attack but could not make that final connection for a goal.

"We didn't put together 90 minutes of good soccer tonight, and I think that was the difference maker," said GC coach Leah Crews Castleman. "Against top teams, you have to have that consistency in your play. We will make a few tweaks and continue to try to find a rhythm as we get further into conference play."

The Tigers return to action 2 pm Saturday hosting Shawnee State University.
