Decatur, Ala. - Georgetown College opened the NAIA National Tournament with a 6-1 loss to Simon Fraser on Thursday.

The Clan's Meaghan Cumpstone hit a solo homerun in the top of the first to put Simon Fraser on the board.  Georgetown answered at the bottom of the inning when sophomore Rachel Johnson scored on a wild throw after stealing third.

Simon Fraser followed with a three-run second inning after two Clans reached base on a series of mistakes and a double by third baseman Carly Moir.

The Tigers had their chances.  In the bottom of the fourth, bases were loaded with no outs, but Georgetown couldn't capitalize and left Pamela Hardesty, Ashley Mitchell and Kendall Lawson stranded.

Next up for Georgetown in the pool play round is sixth-seeded Oklahoma Baptist.  The first pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. (EST).  Live stats are available by visiting www.naia.org and choosing softball and then the national tournament link.
