Georgetown College women's basketball opened leads of 20 and 19 against Mid-South Conference opponent Pikeville, but had to weather a late rally to pull off the 70-61 win Thursday in Georgetown.

Georgetown College women's basketball opened leads of 20 and 19 against Mid-South Conference opponent Pikeville, but had to weather a late rally to pull off the 70-61 win Thursday in Georgetown.

Mandi Boykin led a balanced Tiger attack with 19 points and eight rebounds as they improved to 17-9 overall and 8-3 in the conference.

Kourtney Tyra, of Jackson County, finished with 13 points, while Corbin's Mikkah Rogers, nine points and eight rebounds, and Crescent Springs' Emily  Drees, nine points and nine rebounds, were close to doublé-doubles.

Natiera Hinton led the Pikeville rally and finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while teammate Whitney Compton added eight points and eight rebounds.

Pikeville falls to 14-13 this season and 2-9 in the MSC.

GC returns to action 2 p.m. Saturday at Lindsey Wilson.
