Georgetown College's John Mayo has been named the Mid-South Conference Track & Field Male Athlete of the Week. Mayo, a freshman, came in second in the javelin at the University of Cincinnati's Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. The Pikeville native threw 55.17 meters for the second place finish behind Cincinnati's Brian Zimmerman. In third place was Georgetown's Derek Sword at 53.49 meters, while his brother Jacob Sword finished sixth with a throw of 47.45.

The Invitational, held last Saturday at Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati, featured student-athletes from several NCAA Division I, II, and III schools and 28 total competitors in the javelin event.
