Sioux City, Iowa - The Georgetown College Tigers move into this afternoon's round of elite eight with a 3-2 victory over Columbia College this morning in the single-elimination round of the 2008 NAIA Volleyball National Championship. After dropping the first game, 22-25, Georgetown bounced back to take the next two, 25-23 and 25-22 and take a 2-1 lead. Columbia forced a game-five with a 25-21 win in game four. The Tigers erased six Columbia match points in the deciding game to capture an 18-16 victory.
Erica Janszen led Georgetown with 22 kills while Jessica Hoeh added 19 kills and Allie Bertke posted 13. Hoeh also had 18 digs to the lead the Tigers. Amy Barmore added 15 digs while Bertke had 14 and Liz Goodin finished with 10 digs. Jenna Gronotte led the team with 57 assists.
Flavia Lino led the match with 30 kills for Columbia. Juliana Da Silva added 16 kills and nine digs. Tally Mattos had a match-high 27 digs and Luana Branco recorded 57 assists. The Cougars will end their season with a 41-5 overall record while the Tigers move to 36-7 on the year.

13th Annual Jim Reid Classic Begins Today (12-5-08)
The 13th annual Jim Reid Classic hosted by Georgetown College begins today at 2:00 p.m. The classic will feature eight NAIA basketball games played over two days and also will host five Scott County Youth Basketball games on Saturday morning.
The event honors the memory of former Georgetown College player and coach, Jim Reid, who died in 1996 after battling cancer. Reid was named head coach in 1973 and holds the school record for most wins with 529 career wins. He is a member of the NAIA Hall of Fame as well as the Georgetown College Athletics Hall of Fame.
