Georgetown College Volleyball has had the opportunity to size up the competition over the past two weeks and despite five losses to ranked opponents, two important wins have moved the Tigers up one spot in this week's NAIA Coaches' Poll to No. 10.

The Tigers first traveled to California to face four of the NAIA's top five in the Concordia University Labor Day Tournament, knocking off No. 5 Azusa Pacific 3-0 and playing tough against No. 1 Fresno Pacific, No. 4 Biola and No. 3 Concordia.

Georgetown then followed with a trip to the Columbia, Mo. for the Best Western Classic where they were able to grab a 3-2 win over No. 6 Columbia College but fell to No. 22 Bellevue and No. 15 Lindenwood. Senior setter Jenna Gronotte and junior All-American Erica Janzsen were named to the classic's all tournament team.

"I really didn't know how the losses would affect us in the polls," said Head Coach Jeff Hulsmeyer. "With quality wins but a few losses to teams ranked lower than us it was a toss up but it is nice to see that our strength of schedule is paying off."

The Tigers opened up conference play on Tuesday at home with a 3-0 win over the University of the Cumberlands and improved their overall record to 4-5. Next up is a trip to conference rival No. 17 Campbellsville on Tuesday.
