Georgetown College's volleyball team earned three of the four weekly Mid-South Conference awards. Senior Kyla Welch
was named Player of the Week and Hitter of the Week, while sophomore Lauren Meister
garnered Libero of the Week.
Welch earned all-tournament honors while averaging three kills per game and compiling a .391 hitting percentage in the Tigers' four wins at the Early Bird Tournament hosted by University of Michigan-Dearborn.
The former Lafayette High School standout, recorded double-digit kills in three of her four matches, including 16 in the Tigers' (4-0) 3-2 win over No. 21 Madonna University. Welch added three solo blocks and eight assisted blocks along with five digs to complete her week.
Meister recorded double-digit digs in all four matches, including a season-high 35 in the Tigers win over Madonna.
The Cincinnati, Ohio, native, averaged 5.71 digs per game and added three service aces to her week. Meister made just three receiving errors in 77 chances last week for a .961 reception percentage.
No. 23-ranked Georgetown is off this week before returning to action to open conference play against Lindsey Wilson. The Tigers went 14-0 in the MSC a season ago.
