Women's Soccer - Sun, Sep. 5, 2010
Georgetown College women's soccer team netted its second 4-1 victory in a row behind an explosion from junior Caitlin Williams
Williams came into Saturday's game against Cumberland University never having scored a collegiate goal. However, she connected three times to help the Tigers (2-0) to cruise over the Patriots.
"We had 25 shots on goal," GC coach Leah Crews Castleman
said. "We were wearing it out today."
The Tigers held a 1-0 advantage heading into the second half when Williams helped to break things open with her second goal. Chelsea Farley
got into the action for a 3-0 GC lead.
"It was a game we needed for confidence," Castleman said.
CU got on the board with three minutes remaining, which Williams answered with her third goal of the game. Sophomore Kelsey Ach
assisted Farley's goal and one of Williams goals.
GC finally has its home-opener Tuesday against Spalding. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., following the men's game with Marian College.
