Women's Soccer - Tue, Oct. 19, 2010
Georgetown College women's soccer team took another step in solidifying a top four finish in the Mid-South Conference standings with barely more than a week left in the regular season.
Heading into Tuesday's match with Campbellsville University, the GC Tigers (9-6, 4-2 MSC) were just behind CU for third place. But with a 2-1 victory on the road, Georgetown know sits a half game ahead of Campbellsville.
The top four teams in the conference will host a quarterfinal game on Nov. 6 before finishing the tournament at Rio Grande.
Alessandra Jansen netted two goals, one each half, helping GC to the win. She scored in the first half, giving the GC Tigers a 1-0 lead at the break. The sophomore midfielder added the necessary insurance goal. The CU Tigers fought back, but came up just short.
Georgetown returns to action for senior day Friday against Pikeville. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Then the Tigers wrap up the season with a home game next Wednesday against West Virginia Tech.
