Men's Soccer - Fri, Oct. 22, 2010
Georgetown College men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with Mid-South Conference fourth place Campbellsville University on the road Thursday and came up just short.
GC (3-12, 2-5 MSC), which has battled injuries all season, made the home team work for a 3-2 win.
CU's Gustavo Valencias got his team off to a quick lead, scoring at the 3:14 mark. But Georgetown did not go away and five minutes before halftime Matt Hess tied things up, 1-1.
The game remained knotted until the 60th minute, when CU's Ramiro Sanchez found the back of the net. Campbellsville would add the necessary insurance goal 20 minutes later for a 3-1 lead.
Georgetown's Austin Moman trimmed the deficit to one with just more than 10 minutes remaining in the match, but the Tigers could get no closer.
GC returns to action for Senior Night 7 p.m. Wednesday against West Virginia Tech.
