Georgetown College women's soccer team sweeps Mid-South Conference weekly awards. Junior goalie Cathie Shaver picks up Defensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Alessandra Jansen was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week.
Jansen scored two goals and assisted on another during the week. The Cincinnati, Ohio, midfielder scored both goals in the Tigers' 2-1 win over Campbellsville University. Jansen concluded her award-winning week with an assist in Georgetown's 2-0 win over Pikeville College.
This season, Jansen has four goals and two assists for the Tigers.
Shaver recorded three saves and a shutout last week to earn MSC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The Shelbyville, Ky., goalkeeper stopped two shots in the Tigers' win over Campbellsville and recorded her first shutout of the season with one save in the win over Pikeville.
Shaver owns a 2.67 goals against average this season.
With its wins, Georgetown improves to 10-6 overall and 5-2 in the MSC. The Tigers conclude regular season play 5 p.m. Wednesday as they host West Virginia University Tech.
