Georgetown College's baseball team received 13 votes in the Mid-South Conference preseason poll, including one first place vote, which was recently released.
Campbellsville is favored in the West division, receiving 16 votes with four first place votes. The Tigers finished 27-32 overall and 19-9 in the conference a season ago under first-year head coach Brian Karlet.
GC has added several solid transfers along with some exciting freshman that Karlet hopes can help the Tigers build upon the foundation of a season ago.
Karlet wants to see his team become not only a force inside the conference, but something to reckon with outside of the MSC.
University of the Cumberlands was selected behind GC at third, while St. Catharine was tabbed fourth and Lindsey Wilson was fifth.
This is the first season for baseball to be in divisions with the addition of Shawnee State and University of Virginia College at Wise to the league - both of which are in the East.
This past season's conference tournament champion Rio Grande was selected to finish first in the East division, Shawnee State was second. University of Virginia College at Wise was picked to finish third ahead of West Virginia Tech, fourth, and Pikeville, fifth.
The 2011 baseball season begins in early February with the first conference games slated for early March. The conference tournament is set for April 22 with four play-in series at host sites. The four series' winners advance - along with the divisional champions - to a double elimination tournament May 28-30 at Campbellsville.
