Georgetown College's softball was picked third in the Mid-South Conference West Division in the preseason poll recently released.
The Tigers finished 36-20 overall and 21-6 in the conference a season ago. They were picked to finish behind 2010 tournament champion Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville University. The Blue Raiders picked up 16 votes and four first-place nods, while the CU Tigers got 13 and one.
GC returns a majority of its infielders and as well as its centerfielder.
Rounding out the West was University of the Cumberlands with six votes and St. Catharine College with five votes.
With the addition of University of Virginia College at Wise and Shawnee State, the conference needed to split into divisions. Rio Grande, 14 votes, was picked to finish atop the East followed by Shawnee, 12 votes. Wise was tied with Pikeville for third with 10 votes, while West Virginia Tech rounds out the division with four votes in fifth.
The season starts mid-February with the first conference games schedule for early March. The tournament is set to begin April 25 with a pair of play-in games at host sites. The eight remaining teams advance to a double elimination tournament April 29-30 in Danville.
