Georgetown College's football team pitched its first shutout of the season in a 48-0 win over Lindsey Wilson College Saturday in Columbia.
"It's good to see those kids enjoy a conference title," said Tiger coach Bill Cronin. "We secured the division title today. We have another step to take next week, but we are going to enjoy this one today."
Kaelin Ammons went 17-of-32 for 198 yards and a touchdown, while GC's ground attack racked up 173 yards and five touchdowns. Leading that charge was senior Bennett Gatto with 44 yards on eight carriers and two scores.
The Tigers defense forced four turnovers, three fumbles and an interception.
"It's nice to see our defense get its first shutout," Cronin said. "Our coaches - Shan Housekeeper, Brian Landis, Bruce Owens and Dwayne Ellison - do a real nice job of working with those guys."
Georgetown returns home to finish the season Nov. 13 against Belhaven. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. on Senior Day.
