Georgetown College advanced to its 15th straight Mid-South Conference finals Monday night with a straight-game win over Rio Grande, 25-13, 25-9, 26-24.
The Tigers (26-11) get another shot at the only conference team to beat them this season, Shawnee State, in the finals 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Frankfort Civic Center.
Arielle Milner got Georgetown off to a solid start in the semifinal match, reeling off eight straight points on her serve. The sophomore recorded five aces and just one error in the match.
As a whole the team had 11 aces to the Red Storm's two. Emily Weber had eight kills, while Kyla Welch and Cathy Frank contributed six each.
Milner and Liz Goodin led with 11 digs each, while Goodin also had 25 assists.
Shawnee State beat Campbellsville in three-straight games in the first semifinal to set up the rematch. The Bears came to Georgetown Oct. 13 and handed the team its first conference loss in years. Since that loss, GC has won 12 of its last 14 matches.
Also riding on the line tomorrow is the Tigers unblemished record in conference tournament finals. Since the league's inception in 1995, no other team has ever won the tournament title.
