CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Georgetown College women's basketball team clawed back into the contest against preseason No. 5 Campbellsville Saturday on the road. After a slow start had them down 12-2, the GC Tigers (4-6, 0-2 Mid-South Conference) pulled within six early in the second half.
But, the fire power of Whitney Ballinger and Courtney Clifton proved too much as CU (7-1, 2-0) picked up the 90-63 win.
Georgetown got within 48-42 with 15 minutes left, but an old-fashion three by Clifton ignited a 42-21 run to finish the game. Clifton also had three straight trips with three-pointers for the CU Tigers.
Gina Beining paced GC with 11 points, while Jessica Waddle chipped in with 10.
Ballinger led all-scorers with 32, while Clifton added 22. Clifton grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, all defensive.
Georgetown is off until Dec. 16 when it is home against MSC foe Pikeville. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
