Kyla Welch becomes the 34th Georgetown College volleyball player to earn NAIA All-America status. It was announced Monday evening that the senior was a 2010 Tachikara-NAIA All-America honorable mention player.

The Lexington native slowly improved each season, helping the Tigers to a 145-29 record in four years and two NAIA National Tournament appearances.

In 2008, the then sophomore played a big role in helping GC advance to the Elite Eight and in 2009 to the national championship match.

During the 2009 tournament, she had 30 kills in seven matches with seven each in the quarterfinals and semifinals as the Tigers advanced to the finals for the first time ever.

She was first-team Mid-South Conference in 2009 and 2010. In her senior campaign, Welch had a .309 hitting percentage with 303 kills and 117 blocks (34 solo). She also had 94 digs this past season as the Tigers were 25-12 and 12-1 in the MSC West.
