It was another fierce battle between Mid-South Conference rivals Georgetown College and Pikeville College Thursday in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym. Georgetown clawed out the victory, 74-63.

The Bears (10-3, 1-2 MSC) opened up an early lead 11-4, but once the No. 3 Tigers (13-0, 3-0) grabbed their first lead at with 9:42 remaining in the first half they never trailed again.

Rodney Haddix made two free throws to grab the 17-15 lead as he would go on to score 16 for GC. Eddie Gray led with 17 points, while Pikeville was led by Trevor Setty's 14 points. PC's Justin Hicks had 12 points and Carlos Woodard 10 to round out the double-digit scorers.

Maurice Pearson and Vic Moses dominated the boards with 12 and 11 rebounds respectively.

GC returns to action 4 p.m. Saturday against MSC newcomer University of Virginia College at Wise.
