Georgetown College women's basketball opened the GSAC Challenge in Santa Barbara, CA with a tough lose, 92-70, to No. 17 California Baptist Wednesday in Murchison Gym.
Kourtney Tyra led the Tigers (6-7, 2-2 Mid-South Conference) in scoring with 16 points, while Jessica Waddle added 12. Tyra also had a team high seven rebounds, as GC won the battle of the boards 54-40. However, No. 17 Lancers shot a blistering 52.3 percent from the field in the victory.
V.V. Vasciunaite led all scorers with 32 points, on 10-of-15 shooting from the field - including 5-of-8 from deep. She also added 7-of-8 from the free throw line to help lift Cal Baptist to the win.
The Tigers return to action Thursday afternoon with a game against No. 22 Westmont College.
