Women's Basketball - Mon, Jan. 10, 2011

Another big run hurts Georgetown College women's basketball team on the road against Shawnee State in Portsmouth, OH.

The Tigers (6-10, 2-3 Mid-South Conference) led 40-30 at the half, but MSC newcomer SSU went on a 20-6 run to gain control of the game. The Bears (13-4, 4-1) would hold on down the stretch for a 63-62 victory.

Kourtney Tyra, who averaged 20 points per game this week, dropped a game-high 24 points while also grabbing five rebounds and dishing out four assists. No one else broke into double digits, but a trio had seven each - Mikkah Rogers, Lizza Jonas and Devon Golden.

SSU's Jill Cropper had 16 points and teammate Keilee Guthrie added 13.

GC returns home Thursday, ending a four-game road trip, to face rival University of the Cumberlands. Tip is set for 6 p.m.
