Georgetown College women's basketball team saw a five-point halftime edge slip away as for the second game in a row an opponent put together a 20-6 run out of the break.
No. 16 University of the Cumberlands (12-6, 6-0 Mid-South Conference) used the run to take control for good in a 70-64 win Thursday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
The Tigers (6-11, 2-4) put a 10-2 run to get back in the game and had their chances down 51-50 for several possessions, but could never regain the lead.
Lauren Wombles scored 15 of her career high 31 points in the second half and added 10 boards to keep the Patriots perfect in conference play.
Georgetown returns to action 2 p.m. Saturday against another ranked opponent in Lindsey Wilson.
