Women's Basketball - Sat, Jan. 15, 2011
Georgetown women's basketball suffered its sixth-straight defeat to a ranked opponent Saturday in Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.
Ashley Prince's traditional three and a three by Devon Golden put the Tigers (6-12, 2-5 Mid-South Conference) up four, 50-46, but they could not hold off No. 13 Lindsey Wilson College (13-4, 5-2). The Blue Raiders used a big second half for the 83-76 win.
GC shook up the starting lineup a bit and had things clicking in the first half, 41-29, but another run out of the locker room soon had the Tigers clawing to stay in the game. LWC took off on a 19-5 run. Georgetown weathered the hit, but could not ever find the momentum again.
Kourtney Tyra scored several driving baskets down the stretch to keep things interesting as she led Georgetown with 22 points. Golden added 12 as did Mandi Boykin.
Ashley Rainey led all-scorers with 26.
Georgetown returns to action 6 p.m. Thursday at University of Rio Grande.
