Men's Basketball - Mon, Jan. 17, 2011
Maurice Pearson's 15.5 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game against two conference opponents this past week helped him earn his first-ever Mid-South Conference Player of the Week award.
The junior from Silver Springs, MD shot 70.6 percent from the field, 12-of-17, and 87.5 percent from the free throw line, 7-of-8, as the No. 11 Tigers (17-2, 6-1 MSC) defeated University of the Cumberlands and No. 22 Lindsey Wilson College.
The forward is averaging 12.3 ppg and 6.1 rpg for the season, second highest on the team in each category.
Pearson is the second Georgetown men's basketball player to receive the weekly award. Senior Eddie Gray picked it up twice - Nov. 15 and Dec. 6.
GC heads back on the road this week for a pair of games against University of Rio Grande Thursday and West Virginia University Tech on Saturday.
