Men's Basketball - Wed, Jan. 19, 2011
Georgetown College men's basketball edged up two notches this past week in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll.
The Tigers (17-2, 6-1) snapped a two-game skid with back-to-back wins over conference foes University of the Cumberlands and then No. 22 Lindsey Wilson. This put them back in the Top 10 at No. 9 after spending a week at No. 11. Georgetown has been as high as No. 2 this season.
Two other MSC teams remained in the Top 25. St. Catharine, which had jumped to No. 8, slid back to No. 10 after losing to No. 5 Mountain State and then beat Campbellsville University this past weekend.
GC and the Patriots are tied atop the league standings, with the Tigers owning the edge head-to-head. However, these two teams will square off one more time in the regular season next Thursday at Georgetown.
LWC slid from No. 22 to No. 23 after the loss to Georgetown.
MSC's Pikeville College is still receiving votes for the Top 25, to give the conference four-of-10 teams in the rankings conversation.
Cumberlands and Campbellsville have also been in and out of that conversation throughout this season.
