Men's Basketball - Fri, Jan. 21, 2011
Tyrone Shelley scored 25 points and Vic Moses came off the bench for 23 as Georgetown College men's basketball team picked up a road win over University of Rio Grande Thursday.
The No. 9 Tigers (18-2, 7-1 Mid-South Conference) cruised over the RedStorm (5-14, 0-8), 91-70. Rio made it interesting earlier after a slow start, but GC coach Happy Osborne took a time out and got his guys going again.
The Tigers came out inspired for a 9-2 run, for a seven point edge. The game would never get any closer.
Maurice Pearson also reached double-digits with 11 points, while Eddie Gray added nine points and eight assists.
Around the league, University of the Cumberlands defeated No. 10 St. Catharine, 68-59, West Virginia Tech beat Shawnee State, 97-90, and the Campbellsville-Lindsey Wilson game was postponed.
Georgetown sits atop the conference, a game in front of St. Catharine.
The Tigers stay on the road to play Tech 4 p.m. Saturday.
